CHARLES TOWN – A tennis program for children from ages 3 to 18 starts next month, according to Glenn Edwards, who oversees tennis programs for Jefferson County Memorial Park at 811 S. Mildred St.
Registration for the children’s summer tennis program happens, rain or shine, at the park tennis pavilion on four dates: from 4 to 7 p.m. June 1 and June 8 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 2 and June 9.
The camp, open to youngsters of all skill levels, will be June 11 to 15 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Beginning June 18, big league for players ages 11 to 18 will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Little league for ages 3 to 11 starts June 19 and continues Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tournaments will also be held. The program runs through Aug. 8.
The cost is $65 for the first child in the family and $35 for each additional family member. Check should be made payable to City of Charles Town.

Tennis instructors
Anyone interested in working in the children’s tennis program should call 304-820-2735 for information on applying.
The park has three partially enclosed tennis courts, and they are lit from 7 to 10 p.m. each evening. Players are asked to follow directions for taking turns using the courts.
Pool information
Information regarding the park’s swimming pool, call Marybeth Anderson at 304-820-2735. When the summer swim season begins later this month, it will be open to the public daily throughout the summer. The main pool measures is 40-by-75-feet. There is also a wading pool for babies and toddlers. All swimming pool jobs have been filled.
