SHENANDOAH JUNCTION— The Jefferson girls split a pair of tennis matches played against visiting St. Maria Goretti.
Jefferson decisioned the Gaels 4-3 when India Watson defeated Ashley Robinson, 8-4, at No. 1 singles; Shelby Stanton beat Annie Cochran, 8-3, at No. 3; and Amy Schattel decisioned Lauren Clopper, 8-6, at No. 4 singles.
Jefferson’s last winning match came at No. 1 doubles where Watson/Stanton defeated Robinson/Winalski, 8-3.
St. Maria Goretti received wins from Laura Winalski (No. 2 singles) with her 8-1 win over Bailey Johnson, at No. 2 doubles where Cochran/Monica Divinagracia defeated Johnson/Schattel, 8-5; and at No. 3 doubles where Clopper/Kristin Downing beat Lauren Thomas/Suzanne Lindsey, 8-3.
The Gaels blanked the Lady Cougars, 7-0, in another girls match.
Robinson (No. 1 singles), Winalski (No. 2), Cochran (No. 3), and Clopper (No. 4) posted the wins. Robinson defeated Watson, 8-2; Winalski was awarded a forfeit win; Cochran trimmed Schattel, 8-3; and Clopper was also awarded a forfeit win.
In the doubles matches, Robinson/Winalski were awarded a forfeit win at No. 1; Cochran/Divinagracia also won by forfeit; and Clopper/Downing were likewise awarded a forfeit win.
