Irvin leads other Mountaineers in NFL draft

Bruce Irvin led a small group of West Virginia University players selected in the recent NFL draft. Irvin was taken midway through the first round (15th overall) by the Seattle Seahawks.

Irvin had been credited with 14 sacks from his defensive end spot as a junior in 2010. Last season, he was a starter for the first time and he had 8.5 sacks.

Linebacker Najee Goode was a fifth round selection of the Tampa Bay Bucs. Defensive back Keith Tandy was a sixth round round selection by Tampa Bay.

Later, defensive back Eain Smith was signed by the Washington Redskins.

Marshall University defensive end Vinny Curry became a second round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles.
