Abigail Laramie wins Sargent Award
Abigail Laramie, a student at C.W. Shipley Elementary School, was a statewide Sargent Award winner for her artwork, “Mod Designs,” The student, who just completed third grade, picked up a first-place Best in Show award last month in Charleston. An art student of Nena Stowell’s, Abigail won the elementary school division and was one of just four students selected from across West Virginia. The West Virginia Art Education Association honors students with the Sargent awards each year. Abigail’s work remains on display at the Clay Center in Charleston, part of the “Arts Alive” show that debuted April 20.
