SHENANDOAH JUNCTION— Emma Barr put the finishing touches on her 4-for-4 performance at the plate against Musselman by driving in the go-ahead run in the sixth inning with a double as the Lady Cougars pulled out a 10-8 win.
Barr had five RBIs as the Lady Cougars improved their record to 14-5 while Musselman went to 11-5 overall.
Jefferson had to overcome an early-inning Musselman lead to get the win.
Musselman held a 3-0 lead before Jefferson’s Brittney Jackson unloaded a three-run double that scored Lauren Lewis, Alexandra Witt, and Barr.
Casey Lyons delivered a single that plated Jackson and Jefferson led, 4-3.
Musselman scored the game’s next five runs to take an 8-4 lead.
But Barr delivered a three-run double that brought home Witt, Shelby McTighe, and Chelsea Shepherd. Musselman’s precarious lead was down to 8-7.
Witt’s RBI double plated Lyons and Jefferson had tied it at 8-8.
After the Lady Applemen had been retired without scoring in the top of the sixth, Barr’s fourth hit (a double) scored both McTighe and Witt to move Jefferson in front, 10-8.
In the seventh, Musselman had two runners on base when Witt fanned three straight batters to close out the uphill win.
