Patriots blank Buckhannon boys in tennis

BUCKHANNON — Washington ran its boys tennis team record all the way to 16-1 when it posted a 7-0 win against Buckhannon. The win was Washington’s 16th straight after losing its season opener to John Handley High of Winchester.

In the four singles matches, Washington’s Will Wheatley, Patrik Haglund, Austin Thomas, and Alden Roth had little difficulty in winning their respective matches.

The Patriots finished off their all-winning match against the Buccaneers by taking the No. 1 doubles (Wheatley/Haglund), No. 2 doubles (Thomas/Roth). and No. 3 doubles (Cullen Irving/Cory Coomler) matches with similar ease.
