Jefferson was able to score freely in its 10-3 softball win over host Martinsburg last Tuesday.
Alexandra Witt drilled a solo home run for the Lady Cougars, who were winning their third straight game. The Lady Cougars had already beaten Martinsburg earlier in the season.
In the Gene Baker Memorial Tournament contested in Martinsburg, Jefferson opened play by dropping a 4-2 decision to John Marshall.
Jefferson slammed Martinsburg, 11-1, with Shannon Lyons pitching a no-hitter against the Lady Bulldogs. Witt was 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Emma Barr went 2-for-3.
Jefferson defeated Lewis County, 12-3, with Lyons again getting the pitching win.
The Golden Tornado defeated the Lady Cougars, 9-7, even though Witt was 3-for-4 and contributed a two-run homer.
Jefferson finished the Gene Baker tournament with a 13-5 overall record.
Jefferson had pitcher Alexandra Witt and outfielder/pitcher Shannon Lyons named to the Gene Baker tournament all-tournament team. The Baker event saw Jefferson win twice and lose twice.
