Feeding students: The Caring Cupboard, begun in August to provide needy Jefferson County schoolchildren with shelf-stable foods on weekends, operates from the back entryway of Shepherdstown Lutheran Church’s parish house. The church is seeking food and monetary donations, which may be dropped off at the Parish House, 110 N. King St., 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Thursday or mailed to P.O. Pancake brunch: New Street United Methodist Church, corner of New and Church Street in Shepherdstown, will be having their annual pancake breakfast/brunch on April 28 from 8 a.m. − 1 p.m. Pancakes, sausage gravy, bacon, sausage, applesauce, juice, coffee and tea will be on the menu. The meal will cost $7 for adults and $4 for children 3 − 12. Carryout will be available.
Special service: All are welcome to a “Seven Last Sayings of Christ” service, hosted by the Judea Christian Community Church, 411 South Lawrence Street, on Friday, April 6 at 7 p.m. The host pastor will be the Rev. Otis James. The service is sponsored by the Jefferson Co. Black Clergy Association.
Help for addicts: A monthly addiction support group for all addictions will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at Trinity Temple Church of God, 127 Tuskegee Dr., Martinsburg. Everyone struggling with an addiction is encouraged to attend. For more information, call 304 -283-0851.
