Top-seeded West Liberty outlasted Charleston, 93-90, in overtime in the championship game of last week’s WVIAC men’s basketball tournament. The Hilltoppers completed a pre-national tournament with a 29-2 record as the nation’s No.4-ranked team and will be the top-seed in this week’s NCAA Division II Atlantic Region tournament.
In the Atlantic Region event, host team West Liberty will play eighth-seeded East Stroudsburg. Fourth-seeded West Virginia Wesleyan plays fifth-seeded Winston Salem State. Sixth-seeded Wheeling Jesuit will meet third-seeded Charleston, and second-seeded Shaw will face seventh-seeded Indiana of Pennsylvania.
All games will be played at West Liberty with the Atlantic Region champion going on to the national quarterfinals.
