10 state titles – and counting

As head of the program at Jefferson High since the school opened in the fall of 1972, John Lowery can’t wait for next week and the opening game of the 2012 baseball season. Is Lowery hoping for an 11th West Virginia Class AAA Baseball Championships this spring? “There’s always a level of expectation going in and winning a state championship is always the ultimate goal,” he said. “But the idea of taking a group and trying to get them to be the best they can be, to get out of them everything they’re capable of – if you can do that, even if you’re not the state champion when the final bell rings, there’s no shame there.”
