Washington romps past Silver Oak a second time

Washington finished off its regular season schedule with another easy win (79-44) over Silver Oak Academy from Keymar, Md. The Patriots were winning for the eighth straight time and finished the campaign with a 15-6 record they will take into tonight’s (Wednesday) Class AAA, Region II, Section 1 tournament game against Hedgesville.

Washington’s Kendell Smith slides closer to the basket.

Washington had easily beaten Silver Oak in Maryland the previous week. Last Wednesday’s win was accomplished in much the same way as the earlier victory.

Patriot reserves played extensively. After the first quarter, the game was never close.

Tyrek Collier scored 15 points and claimed 11 rebounds to pace Washington in both those categories.

Washington reserves played en masse throughout the second half as the Patriots celebrated Senior Night with Collier, Cody Diehl, Jalen Jackson, and Bryant Currence playing their final regular season games.

The winner of tonight’s Washington vs. Hedgesville game moves to the Section 1 finals where it plays the winner of the Jefferson at Martinsburg game. The two Section 1 finalists both qualify for the Region II tournament where wins by both of them will send each squad to the state tournament.
