Reserve a spot at Jefferson County Day

Plans for the Second Annual Jefferson County Day in Charleston are becoming finalized. The date of departure will be Feb. 19.

Another successful year is underway as several organizations jump on board the Jefferson County Day bus heading for a trip to Charleston, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 19 to meet with legislators to develop a responsive relationship between the State of W.Va. and Jefferson County.

The agenda starts in Charleston with a Sunday evening reception at the Governor’s Mansion, followed by a mixer at the Marriott’s Whitewater Bar & Grille. On Monday morning there is a free breakfast buffet, and then on to the Capitol Building.

Organizations will display and represent Jefferson County in the Capitol Building on both the House and Senate sides of the Rotunda. Lunch will be followed by going into a Legislative Session in both Houses to receive Resolutions recognizing Jefferson County Day and Shepherdstown 250. The day will wrap up by meeting with legislators and attending legislative committee meetings. Plans are to return to Charles Town by 11 p.m.

Some of the organizations participating this year are Historic Shepherdstown Commission, Jefferson County Council on Aging, River Riders, Shepherd University, Charles Town Horsemen’s Benevolent & Protective Association, Harpers Ferry, Jefferson County WVU Extension Service, Jefferson County Planning and Zoning Department, Good Shepherd Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers, Ryan Film Institute, Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, Jefferson County Schools, Jefferson County Commission, Jefferson County CVB, Friends of Happy Retreat, Shepherdstown Visitors Center, Quality Hotel and Conference Center at Harpers Ferry, Bavarian Inn, The Spirit of Jefferson, The Shepherdstown Chronicle, Greg Didden Assoc., The Observer, Shepherdstown 250, The Arts & Humanities Alliance of Jefferson County, The Charles Town Crier, The Town’s Inn at Harpers Ferry, American Public University, Skinner Law Firm, Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce, Frontier Communication, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, The Station at Shepherdstown, Eastern Panhandle Organization of Home Owners Associations, The Clarion Hotel & Conference Center of Historic Shepherdstown, Jefferson County Parks and Recreation, and Communication Outreach of Jefferson County.

The deadline for making room reservations at the Charleston Marriott Town Centerm is Saturday, Feb. 11 at the group rate of $133.28 per room, which includes tax and a free breakfast.
