Jefferson CEOS share meeting highlights

The February meeting of the Jefferson CEOS Club was hosted by Anne LaRue. “Connecting With Others Using the Five Love Languages” was Jamie Phipps’ program for the day.

The five common patterns of the languages are:

#1 Words of affirmation. – Tell other persons you appreciate them no matter how big or small.

#2 Giving gifts – Most everyone enjoys receiving gifts. Don’t wait for a special occasion to give a gift. The gift need not be expensive but have a sentimental value.

#3 Acts of service – Do something for a person. Help with chores. Take care of a child.

#4 Quality time – This means giving someone your undivided attention. Give your undivided attention without TV or cell phone. Make time every day to talk and share the events of the day.

#5 Physical touch – Touch can be giving a hug, holding hands or a pat on the back.

Members had a discussion time to determine their love language.

During the business meeting, Debbie Viands gave a report on the 50 blizzards boxes that were packed for the Senior Center recipients.

Dates to remember are the April 28 Keyser area meeting; the May 12 bus trip to Allenberry Theater to see Honky Talk Angel; the Sept. 24 − 27 fall conference at Jackson’s Mill, and the Nov. 3 Achievement Party at Paul’s Restaurant.

Members brought cookies for Hospice. Hazel Spear gave a book report on “Seasons of Her Life” by Fern Michaels.

Joann Viands, Health Motivator, spoke on “Food Interactions With Meds.” Food-Drug interactions may make your drug less effective, can cause side affects or can harm you. Always read labels on prescription and non-prescription meds before you take them.

“Ramps – A Spring Tonic” with Linda Poston will be the March program.
