Handley goes overtime to edge Lady Cougars
SHENANDOAH JUNCTION— For the second time this season, Handley tripped the Jefferson girl’s basketball team. The Judges needed an overtime period on Saturday to defeat the Lady Cougars, 58-52.
The latest loss dropped Jefferson to 3-15 overall.
Kristen Ward scored 20 points to pace Handley. Corin Scott was able to add 10 points. McKinley Thomas had 21 points for the Lady Cougars and Danashia McDonald tossed in eight points.
Handley outscored the Lady Cougars, 11-5, in the deciding overtime period.
Jefferson clung to a 10-8 lead after the first quarter closed. But the Judges had assumed a none-too-comfortable 25-24 lead by halftime.
Jennifer Biebel converted a late Jefferson High free throw to send the game into overtime tied at 47-47.
