Jefferson High distance runner Eric Graf has signed NCAA documents that will see him attend the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Graf will be joining one-time Jefferson High teammate Brandon Doughty at Oklahoma. Doughty was a redshirt in his first year with the Sooner program and did not run when the Sooners finished sixth in the NCAA Cross Country Meet in the fall of 2011.
Oklahoma had a team of all underclassmen at the 2011 fall meet.
Just as Doughty did in his first year with the Sooners, Graf expects to redshirt in his first year on campus.
Just this past fall, Graf finished second overall in the Class AAA West Virginia state cross country meet in Ona where Jefferson won its first state championship.
During the 2010 track and field state meet in Charleston, Jefferson High won its second straight Class AAA state title as Graf finished fourth in the 1,600 meter run and had another fourth-place finish in the 3,200-meter run. Graf ran a leg on the 4×800 relay unit that was second in the 2011 state meet.
As a junior in 2010 at the state track and field meet, Graf finished sixth overall in the 3,200-meter run.
Graf will be finishing his high school career this spring when Jefferson will be aiming for a third-straight state track and field title.
