Lenten activities at Trinity Episcopal

Trinity Episcopal Church, corner of Church and German St. in Shepherdstown, is planning the following activities for Lent.

Beginning on Thursday, March 1, a five week Lenten series will concentrate on the Book of Common Prayer. The sessions will continue weekly through March 29.

Each evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a soup and salad dinner. The program begins at 7 p.m. and will be followed by Holy Eucharist with the opportunity for Laying on of the Hands for Healing at 8 p.m.

An instructed Eucharist will be held at the 10 a.m. service on March 25 as a prelude tom the Thursday session on March 25.

Service of Christian Unity March 4

A service of Christian Unity will be held Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, 49 Crosswinds Dr., Charles Town. The community is invited to worship together and celebrate the ministry of Jefferson County Community Ministries. Special music will be provided. For more information, call 304-725-8304.

Recovery program meets every Friday

Celebrate Recovery, a Christ-centered recovery program for men and women struggling with alcoholism, addictions, and other self-defeating behaviors, meets every Friday. Fellowship meal starts at 6:15 p.m., program at 7 − 8 p.m. and share groups from 8 − 9 p.m. Free childcare is provided. Call 540-668-6357 or visit www.lvcn.org for more information. The group meets at 35834 Charles Town Pike (on Rt. 9, 3 mi. east of Va./W.Va. border). There will be no meeting Dec. 23.

Pancake supper and bake sale

The United Methodist Men and Women of Leetown United Methodist Church, 11133 Leetown Road, will be hosting a pancake supper and bake sale on Saturday, March 3 from 4 − 7 p.m. at the church. Tickets for adults are $6 in advance, $7 at the door. Children are $3. For more information, contact the church office at 304-725-8304.
