Jennifer Maghan, known for her work as Jefferson County’s top election official, will be singing a different tune this weekend. A sax player and a soulful singer/songwriter, Maghan will headline two solo shows Friday at Alfredo’s Ristorante & Mediterranean Grill at 132 W. Washington St., Charles Town. To reserve a seat for dinner and one of Maghan’s sets (starting at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.), call 304-724-9992. “I have always wanted to pursue music,” Maghan said. “After singing with bands and doing mostly covers, I realized what I really want is to sing my own original songs and to get up close and personal with audiences who want to be entertained.” Reaction to her solo work so far? “Incredibly supportive.” She’s also booked to perform March 17 at Bloomery Plantation, 16357 Charles Town Road, Charles Town.
